How to Setup FastestVPN on Roku via PC & Mac
Set Up FastestVPN on Roku Using PC & Mac Devices
Compared to setting up FastestVPN as your Roku VPN using a router, creating a virtual router for the same procedure is fairly not as simple in comparison.
However, if you need to go through it, you’ll be required to use your Windows or Mac computer to establish the Roku VPN connection.
Using FastestVPN on Roku via Shared VPN Connection
First set up the FastestVPN app on your Windows and Mac devices. Once that is done, proceed to the next step:
For Windows users
- Open Command Prompt and use it as Admin. Type: “Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NETWORKNAME key=PASSWORD”
- Next, enter: “ssid= [input a network name]”, “key= [set a password]”
- Select the network name.
- Go back to the Command Prompt and type: “netsh wlan start hostednetwork”
- Click enter.
- Since you’ve already set up your VPN connection (virtual router), you will see a confirmation message telling you that the hosted network has started.
- Now, on the Windows menu, go to “Settings” > “Network & Internet” > “Mobile Hotspot.”
- Turn the Mobile hotspot on.
- Click on “Share my Internet connection.” Tap on “WiFi.”
- Go back to the settings and click on “Change adapter options.” Here, you will see all the connections on your list.
- Take note of your new connection name.
- Go back to the list and select “TAP-Windows Adapter.” Right-click on it and select “Properties.”
- Now, on the “Sharing” tab, click “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.”
- Next, select “Allow other users on the network to have control over or disable the new shared Internet connection.”
- On the drop-down menu, choose the new connection that you created and click on “OK.”
- Select “OpenVPN” as your FastestVPN protocol.
- Power on your Roku device.
- On the Roku home screen, select “Settings” > “Network” > “Wireless.”
- When you see the option: “Setup new WiFi internet connections,” select the hotspot you made.
For Mac users
Go to the “Sharing Menu” and click on the option that says “Internet Sharing.” When prompted by a pop-up, click on “Start” and then open the menu tab. To make sure the hotspot is established, there will be a green light next to “Internet Sharing” under the Sharing menu.
When the Wi-Fi hotspot is turned on, connect your Roku to it. This will show the VPN connection to protect your Roku.
